Amy Dov
Amy Dov was born in 1970 in Los Angeles, California and currently lives and works in LA. She received her BA from the University of California, Santa Cruz in Painting and Printmaking, and became a Master Printer from Tamarind Institute in 1995. “Although I was a painter for many years, I have always been drawn to the quality and warmth of clay. It is a methodical, intuitive and grounding process in which I am able to incorporate my painting practice and see the clay as a canvas in a way that keeps evolving. My process is really about having a visceral response to each phase while I am working.” Amy is known for her ceramic sculptures that incorporate elements of nature and biomorphic forms. The layers of delicate oxides and glazes mimic the decay of the living world and quiet observation of the passage of time.
